(CS)²AI's Houston Chapter Holds All Day Cyber Security Conference at The University of Houston
(CS)²AI's Houston Chapter held its annual University of Houston Fall 2019 Cybersecurity Event on November 14, 2019. This was their third year for this career-focused event for university students. Students and (CS)2AI members attended an all-day workshop focused on Cybersecurity.
Despite the historic shortage of trained security workers in the US, many qualified college graduates have a difficult time finding their first job. The annual event allows students an opportunity to better understand the job market, with the goal of landing an internship, or interviewing for their first job. This year the event offered a hands-on Red vs Blue Capture the Flag session from Theatgen, a cybersecurity services company founded by Clint Bodungen. There was also a "Women in Cyber" panel discussion where female CISO panelists shared their knowledge and challenges about their career path into leadership.
Attendees who participated in the event included students from the University of Houston, San Jacinto College, Houston Community College, Lonestar College, Wounded Warriors Project, Heroes to Heroes Foundation and Houston Chapter members.
